Almonty Korea Tungsten Processing Plant
Information
Almonty Korea Tungsten Corp. acquired the Sangdong Mine, which had been closed since 1992, in 2016 and has been leading its redevelopment ever since. Located in Sangdong-eup, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon Province, this project involved the construction of a tungsten concentration (ore-dressing) facility designed to separate and concentrate tungsten from ore extracted at the mine.
Equipped with an automated process control system and an intelligent monitoring system, the concentration plant was designed to process up to 640,000 tonnes of ore annually, with the goal of producing 2,300 tonnes of tungsten concentrate per year. After years of preparation and construction, the project came to fruition with a completion ceremony held on March 17, 2026.
