Myeong-dong Noon Square
Information
Located at the entrance of Myeong-dong Street, Noon Square embodies the rich commercial history of the district. Originally built as Cosmos Department Store in December 1970, the building was transformed into a multi-purpose shopping complex, Avatar, in 2001, and later underwent expansion and remodeling in 2009, reborn as the modern Noon Square.
Remodeling an existing structure is far more challenging than constructing a new one, as it requires both technical precision and respect for the building’s legacy. Noon Square stands as a prime example of how remodeling can preserve architectural and historical identity while revitalizing local commerce and enhancing the urban sustainability of Myeong-dong.
